FAQ
Q: Where are you from?
A: Our members all live in different cities.  We stretch from Ballard to Burlington so we practice at the Nazarene Church in Marysville, which is Dick Hammers home church and is about in the middle for all of us.

Q: How did you get started?
A: After the original Crossroads Quartet disbanded, Al decided he would like to keep singing on a more part time basis.  The original group had sung together for over 32 years and would often do two or three concerts per weekend.  Al wanted to back off from that heavy load and do three or four each month.  Each of our members have sung since they were in their teens and as Al talked to each of us we found we were all agreed that a very part time ministry was what we wanted at this time in our life's.  Dick Hammer was one of the founding members in 1961.  Dick Cromoga and Lars Eggehorn were a part of the group over the last years the Crossroads were singing.  Don Olson and Orv Owens were old friends of the Crossroads and had sung together in the Olson Brothers Quartet.  So they were invited to make up the last two members of the Revised Version of the Crossroads.

Q: Is this the original group?
A: This is now the original group of the Crossroads Revised Version.  We have been singing together with the same members since 1995 and hope to keep the same members as long as they can carry a tune.  We have become a close family and although most groups change from year to year, we have been able to keep this group together.  The longer we sing with the same members the more we can anticipate what each person is going to do.  This has helped our harmony and timing and the ability to learn new songs and arrangements.

Q: What dose it cost to have you sing for our function?
A: Because we are part time and none of us are receiving financial support from the group, we can sing for any size group and always come on a free-will offering basis.  The dollars that are received are used to keep our motor coach running, purchase and maintain our sound equipment and set some aside to record an album.

Q: How far do you travel?
A: We travel throughout the Northwest.  Since most of us still have jobs we are limited to how far from home we can travel.  We have talked about taking some extended trips because of invitations, but for the most part we like to be back home each Sunday night.

Q: Do you sing for private functions?
A: We have sung for about every kind of function you can imagine.  The size of the group and the cause of the gathering is not important to us.  We have sung for birthday parties, banquets, potluck dinners, retirement homes, fund raisers, funerals and have even sung for individuals in their living rooms.

Q: What is your singing style?
A: We sing Southern Gospel Quartet style.  Our music is four-part harmony with a key board and bass and is upbeat, positive in message and as one lady said, "You can understand the words".  This style of Gospel Music was created in the South in what they called singing conventions.  The singers were taught how to read shaped notes.  Most churches in the south have had their own church group or groups and thousands of people would gather to hear groups perform into the night.  They called them, "All day singings and dinner on the grounds".  It has now spread internationally and many of the songs sung by soloist, choirs and congregations have come from southern gospel song writers.

Q: What is your ministry?
A:  We believe our ministry is three fold.  First, our songs are the Gospel, "Good News", and so we believe they are edifying and uplifting.  Second, because we come to present a concert, we see alot of people that would not normally attend church come out to hear us sing, so it is an outreach ministry.  Third, our programs end with an invitation to establish a personal relationship with Jesus, so we are an evangelistic ministry.  We also think that Christian entertainment is important, so we have fun in our presentation.  We believe that the Holy Spirit can touch peoples hearts with our songs and that is why we sing.
